A little over a month ago I shared the IndieGoGo campaign for an independent mockumentary, The ShizzlyGrark, which was seeking extra funding to help create their monster and purchase special effects as well as to ease the cost of post-production. Since then the team of Charles Styles and Timothy Mattson have been working tirelessly to complete this horror-comedy. As of Sunday, February 22nd, the duo have wrapped principal photography and are beginning the editing process. Congratulations to them both for being so speedy and efficient with this project.

Some brand new stills and behind the scenes footage have been released in promotion of this upcoming title. I’m actually impressed with the quality of production here. I wasn’t expecting to see such polished work from an independent horror-comedy done in the style of mockumentary. Major props to whoever was working as cinematographer and DP. And who knows! Maybe you’ll see me pop up in it eventually!

The story of The ShizzlyGrark:

“In the year 2005 or perhaps earlier, the actual date has never been confirmed, a young man by the name of Alan Castor claimed to have been assaulted by a blood-thirsty creature. He has described it as “a cross between a great white shark and a grizzly bear”. One day Mr. Castor was on a hike in the woods somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. He came upon a clearing with a small pond and thought he had seen a young goth girl waiting by the water’s edge. As he stopped to say Hello and gather water into his canteen he was attacked. He did in fact lose an arm, or so he claims.

The following year Mr. Castor put together a small team of individuals to document and find the ShizzlyGrark. He’s made it his life goal to expose this hideous and vile monster. Currently there is a documentary film in production that consists of interviews with individuals that all claim to have been attacked by the ShizzlyGrark. There has been no proof so far that this creature exists and one will note that all individuals in the film (that I’ve had the pleasure to see) are not of clear, mental, and sound mind. However, in their defense, to survive something this horrifying could traumatize anyone for life!”
