The annual Los Angeles competition will kick off with an opening night gala October 1

The Shriekfest Film Festival, an international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competition, has announced its 2015 lineup and is slated to screen the bloodsoaked feature film The Divine Tragedies on Saturday, October 3 at 4 p.m., beginning the festival’s second evening of feature films and following two blocks of short films that begin at noon.

The movie, written and directed by Jose Prendes (The Haunting of Whaley House) and based in part on a true story, focuses on two brothers who plan to commit a murder for the intellectual experience; however, their first outing tears their relationship apart, leaving one traumatized and the other bloodthirsty.

Tickets and a trailer for the film can be found on the Shriekfest website.

In addition to The Divine Tragedies, Shriekfest will screen nine other features throughout the weekend, including the POV zombie horror 6:15; the thrilling The Answer; the technological terror of Chatter; the world premiere of Hunting; the West Coast premiere of the high school-themed horror film Clinger; the supernatural-based Interior; the L.A. premiere of the tension-filled Land Mine Goes Click; the world premiere of the Granny of the Dead, executive produced by Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante; and the terrifying All I Need. Many of the films will be followed by Q&As with the cast or filmmakers.

The festival will also showcase 35 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.

The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 1 – 4, 2015. An opening night party will take place at Boardners/Club Sinister in Hollywood; the rest of the festival will be at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave

Shriekfest, now in its 15th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors, and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
