People Under the Stairs’ Yan Birch Joins Cast of Terror Tales.

Denver, CO – March 17, 2016 – With this year marking the 25th Anniversary of The People Under the Stairs, Heart and Fire Productions is excited to announce that Yan Birch who plays The Stairmaster in the Wes Craven classic has joined the cast of Terror Tales. In this upcoming horror anthology, Yan will star in the final segment of the film which begins filming in November in Denver, Colorado. Yan is part of a growing cast of horror icons including Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop 1 & 2), Lynn Lowry (The Crazies, Shivers), Jonathan Tiersten (Sleepaway Camp) and Liane Curtis (Sixteen Candles, Girlfriend from Hell, Critters 2).

“Yan worked closely with the late master of horror Wes Craven for his iconic role as the Stairmaster. We’re very pleased to have him part of our wonderful cast of iconic actors featured in Terror Tales,” said award-winning filmmaker Jimmy Lee Combs, director of Terror Tales. “Yan has diversity and striking looks that allow him to slip into a variety of characters like a chameleon,” added Jimmy Lee “he’s a very talented actor and we’re currently fleshing out a character for him that we’re collaborating on for the final segment in the film.”

The segment Yan will be in revolves around an evil deity that is using the human body as a host to possess its victims. When the deity destroys one victim it jumps to another causing an epidemic of possessions being reported. Deception is ruled by evil as friends, family, and strangers question their trust for one another.

Yan’s roots in horror began as The Weirdo in Slumber Party Massacre III in 1990. Followed up in 1991 with his iconic break out role as the Stairmaster in The People Under the Stairs in which Yan underwent heavy SFX for the role. Yan can also be seen opposite Kim Basinger in 2000’s Bless the Child and more recently on the show “Charmed” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Yan loves the arts and has a rich background in playing music.
