  • 1994 – Jodelle Ferland, who starred in “The Messengers,” “Case 39” and appeared as “Bree” in “The Twilight Saga : Eclipse.”
  • 1979 – Brandon Routh, who played “Superman” in “Superman Returns.” He also starred in “Dylan Dog: Dead of Night” and appeared in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.”
  • 1964 – Producer/writer/director Guillermo del Toro, whose films include “The Orphanage,” “The Devil’s Backbone,” ” Hell Boy 1 & 2,” “Blade II”, “Mimic”, “Pacific Rim.”
  • 1959 – Michael Paré who starred in the films “The Philadelphia Experiment,” the remake of “Village of the Damned,” ” Bloodrayne” and “Bad Moon.”
  • 1958 – Producer Frank Mancuso Jr., whose films have included “Stigmata,” “Friday the 13th” parts 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, “Species,” “I Know Who Killed Me” and “April Fool’s Day” (2008).
  • 1954 – Scott Bakula, who starred in the TV series’ “Quantum Leap” and “Enterprise” as well as the film “Lord of Illusion.”
  • 1953 – Tony Shaloub, best known for playing the title role on the TV series “Monk.” He starred in the 2001 remake of “Thir13en Ghosts” and appeared in “Men In Black,” “Men In Black II” and “1408.”
  • 1900 – Alastair Sim, played “Ebenezer Scrooge” in my favorite version of “A Christmas Carol.”

DIED ON THIS DAY IN HORROR HISTORY

  • 2009 – Barry Letts, who produced & directed many British TV series including “The Invisible Man,” “Doctor Who” and “The Hound of the Baskervilles” mini-series, passed away at the age of 84.
  • 2009 – Al C. Ward, who wrote for such TV series as “Perry Mason,” “The Fugitive,” “Climax!,” “The Aquanauts” and “Bonanza,” passed away at the age of 90. He wrote the American sequences for the original “Godzilla.”
  • 2005 – Louis Nye who played “Zombo” on the “Munsters” episode of the same name, passed away at the age of 92.
  • 2000 – David Dukes, had appeared in “Rose Red (TV Mini-Series)”, “Gods and Monsters”, “Rawhead Rex”, “Deadly Nightmares (TV Series)”, and more. He passed on at the age of 55 from a heart attack.
  • 1972 – Miriam Hopkins who starred in the 1931 version of “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde,” passed away at the age of 69.
