Sources including The Guardian and Variety are reporting that actress Peggy Cummins has passed away at age 92. She is reported to have died in London on Friday, December 29, 2017, following a massive stroke. Confirmation came earlier today from her close friend, Dee Kirkwood. She is survived by two children.

Peggy Cummins is most known for her starring roles as Carey Greenway in Oscar Nominated Green Grass of Wyoming (1948), femme fatale Annie Laurie Starr in Gun Crazy (1950) and as Lucy in BAFTA Nominated Hell Drivers (1957). She also held lead and supporting roles in hits like Her Man Gilbey (1944), Moss Rose (1947) and Always a Bride (1953).

In 1953, she starred as Kitty in horror-fantasy flick Meet Mr. Lucifer, but she’s recognized for Night of the Demon (1957) instead. Peggy played the lead role of Joanna Harrington in Jacques Tourneur’s Night of the Demon, which has since gone on to become a cult classic in The UK. It was retitled to Curse of the Demon in The United States, where it achieved minor success as part of a double feature with Hammer’s Revenge of Frankenstein (1958).

All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send our condolences to her family, friends and fans.
