T.R.A.P. – ‘The Real Asbury Park’ Debut Feature Film from Filmmaker Anthony Curry

From the press release:

Getting ready for the world premiere of his debut feature film entitled ‘TRAP’ which is an amalgamation of crime stories about the underground of Asbury Park, mostly centering around a gang of violent street kids.

T.R.A.P. – ‘The Real Asbury Park’ was written when Anthony was still a teenager about the kids he grew up with. It dived between reality and fiction. It’s impressionistic, filtered through my own imaginative. A liquid narrative, more about energy and feeling which the music really builds. It was a long road of making this film between a highly publicized murder trial, a pandemic, and almost being murdered twice during the making of it.

The film is definitely inspired by a sort of abstract post modernist expressionist film Neorealism, with a No-wave approach to the genre. It stars Marissa Jade from the show Mob Wives and Celebrity Big Brother and Tina Krause from The Recovered, Animal Room, and Nikos the Impaler, along with countless first timers who give the performance of a lifetime.

TRAP has been my everything for the past 5 years, so much so that at times, it was all I had. It was written when I was 17 and has been a real blessing to have made this film because making films sometimes feels like miracles. But I’m not a miracle worker, I just know how to tell stories.

With that being said, I’m thrilled to finally be moving towards completion, the film will have its World Premiere at the Museum of the Moving Image for the Queens World Film Festival. On November 5th, at 6pm in the Redstone theater at MoMI.
