mid_syn_logo_low.jpgThree Midnight Syndicate CDs make AOL Radio’s Top 10 Halloween Music CDs of all-time.

AOL Radio has just released a list of the Top 10 Best Halloween Music CDs as ranked by AOL/CBS Radio listeners. In the company of such greats as The Exorcist soundtrack and Rob Zombie, three of the ten CDs were Midnight Syndicate discs (Born of the Night #8, Realm of Shadows #4, and Vampyre #3), ranking only behind Danny Elfman’s Nightmare Before Christmas and John Carpenter’s classic Halloween soundtrack.

Vampyre and Out of the Darkness (a collection of the best music from Born and Realm) are currently available at your local Halloween retailer – see below!

On Saturday, October 3rd, the cast and crew of The Dead Matter, as well as several lucky fans from the News From Beyond mailing list (see last update), met at Tower City Cinemas in downtown Cleveland to catch a sneak peek of the movie. For a great behind-the-scenes look at the event, visit Jim O’Rear’s SCARS blog and be sure to visit The Dead Matter on Facebook for more photos. Additional coverage can be found at Scene Magazine and Chagrin Valley Times.

We hope to have news on a wide release date for the movie soon! “Film distribution is a tricky business,” said Edward Douglas. “We just want to make sure that after all this work we make the right decision.” As previously mentioned in the last update, plans are underway for special screenings in cities across the country to coincide with the release of the film. “The crowd’s reactions at the Cleveland screening have us even more stoked to release this movie. We can’t wait!” added Douglas.

What’s up next for Midnight Syndicate?

Initial work is underway for the next Midnight Syndicate disc, but Gavin and Ed are remaining tight-lipped on the theme. Currently, the band is putting together a double-CD soundtrack to The Dead Matter that will be released in coordination with the movie. One of the discs will contain the instrumental segments of the score to the film, while the second disc will contain music from other artists that appear in the movie including Lazy Lane, HipNostic, and Eternal Legacy. The second disc will also include remixes of classic Midnight Syndicate tracks by various artists.

There are also at least two other special releases planned for 2010 that we hope to share with you in the upcoming months – so be sure to stay tuned!
